Re: card force
If you start checking out some of the books by Derron Brown and Max Mavin I'm sure somewhere in one of their books you will find what you are looking for.
Here are a couple that you may want to look at as well:
Real Mind Reading" by Docc Hilford
Psychological Subtleties by Banachek

Re: card force
Before you invest your time in this, ask yourself, are you sure you have hte necessary skill to pull off meathodless mentalism? It is a very difficult art to master, and requires practice on real specs. You do not have the comfort of sleights, you do not have the security of gimmicks. All you have is an intiment understanding of psychology and with that you will be able to work miricles.

Re: card force
180 by Daniel Madison provides a useful template for psychological card forcing. It also provides an out to help you practice the force and has worked many times for me.

Re: card force
The Devil's Picturebook has some excellent starters, plus the working to one of my favorite effects, "Smok'd." It's all by Derren Brown, so you know it's good.
Make sure to carry an "out" with you at all times. I carry a Mind Force deck along with my standard Bicycle pack.

I don't agree with you actually. I'm quite sure mentalism is a skill you can (and need to develop) and therefor is not something you just "have". Charism might of course help to influence people but I can ensure you, I give debating workshops, and even this (charism) can be taught up to a certain level.
And about 'not having the comfort en security of sleights', also with that I do not agree: He just wants to learn psychological forces and the nice thing about a psy-force is, that when it fails, you can just switch to another (non-mental) trick, and try it again on antoher spectator later on.
I would just recommend you to try it and see if it is your thing, practice on your parents, your best friends and other magicians (if you know any). The book 'Psychological Subtleties by Banachek' (as recommended by rossco) is one of the books that taught me the most. Good luck & Have fun!
