Altered Reality

A spectator chooses any card from the pack. The magician cuts the deck in half and asks the spectator to replace their chosen card and then completes the cut. The magician then spreads through the face up cards asking the spectator to make a mental note when they see their card. The magician now closes the spread and hands the deck to the spectator asking him/her to retrieve their card. After searching through the deck it is discovered that the chosen card has vanished from the deck. The magician then reveals that it was in his hand the whole time.
