A spectator tries to grab a coin from the magicians hand. The coin disappears but then miraculously falls out of the sky into the magicians hand.
Coin from the Sky
Method
The magician tells spectator to try to grab the coin on the count of three as it goes by their hand. The magician holds the coin in his finger tips. Then he moves the coin from above his head to by the spectators hand saying "one". He does this again saying "two". Finally on the third time the magician leaves the coin on top of his head. He says "three" and brings his hand down and the spectator tries to grab the coin (which is on the magicians head). The magician shows his hand empty after spectator fails. He then tilts his head forward to allow the coin to fall from the top of his head into his hand.
Advice
Don't perform to people taller than you!

| maria 3rd Apr 06 | this is very clever! | |
| powermike 12th Apr 06 | put some images ok?? | |
| Beast 20th May 06 | Learned this from Bill Malone on TV. It's fun to say something like, "What did you do with it?" after you put it on your head. Then, "You DO have it, see?" and drop it in their palm immediately. Aiming takes some practice, for me anyway. | |
| fetty 22nd May 06 | a cool and neat trick. I tried it and it needs to be done fast. | |
| nevaehclothing 31st May 06 | haha not bad my teacher art teacher did sumthin liek this back in high school | |
| UraharaKisuke 31st May 06 | for light haired people....nvm could use a penny | |
| dillo2 1st Jun 06 | or gold doller | |
| bassmanplays 2nd Jun 06 | nice. you have to practice where to put your hand though. simple trick. | |
| blacktiger 3rd Jun 06 | Never thought of it and I do alot of coin tricks. Good job. Very funny. | |
| Tjschwem 16th Jun 06 | Neat trick but very easy to get caught. | |
| eggplantboy 28th Jun 06 | it takes somepractice to not pause while putting it on ur head. its also easy to get caught. but a good trick though. 6 out of 10. | |
| Gusty 12th Jul 06 | I can't get it to balance on my head! But a cool effect anyways. | |
| nicky48 17th Jul 06 | wat if u miss their hand and it falls on the ground | |
| SphillyViietgurl 20th Jul 06 | what if they ask you why is your hand all the way up where you head is? | |
| GDTNT 6th Aug 06 | BRILLIANT! My only advice is to avoid moving your head too much, as it would risk the coin falling off. Also, I think it would be wise not to use a coin that contrasts too much with your hair color. | |
| mystag 21st Aug 06 | This is a great effect when done properly. Make them think they get to keep coin and they won't concentrate on your head, only your hand when it gets near thier hand. I've been fooling people with this for years. Practice, practice, practice. | |
| eski 9th Sep 06 | its really hard to make it look like the coin really disappeared on your head if the spectator is just as tall as you I found out trying the trick on my brother. does take alot of practice. | |
| riddler 18th Sep 06 | works good with a fro | |
| paperboy 21st Sep 06 | what if your bald | |
| luigi10liker 25th Sep 06 | This trick usually only works well with kids. I don't perform this trick much, because lots of people are taller that me. | |
| Holy 3rd Oct 06 | wow good idea. Quite like 1 that goes behind your ear instead. If you get spotted though you better make up an excuse quickly. I would have 1 already made. | |
| Teaps 12th Oct 06 | "what if your bald" I guess your just SOL then haha, Good Trick I had [peple looking skywards a couple of times | |
| jrockpunk1 22nd Oct 06 | oops i rated it bad by accident. i quite like it. the only problem is, im quite small :( lol | |
| fishin05 24th Oct 06 | good for kids I would not advise to do this with an adult. | |
| lorddubvader 26th Oct 06 | cool trick,but what exactly is the hand motion? | |
| georgeroxmysox 3rd Nov 06 | very affective if you do it to little kiddies lol | |
| jasondf 11th Nov 06 | im too short, guess have to do it too younger kids:( | |
| anbu 20th Nov 06 | my girlfriend gets confussed by my tricks and doesn't get how I do them... she is also about half a foot shorter than me too. This will be a fun one. | |
| MDew 17th Dec 06 | This trick works wonders if you play up the situation and context of a coin routine into it. This is not a stand alone trick, but is a nice addition to a one-coin routine. If you don't want to get caught, then do this effect (admist a coin trick) just for ONE PERSON ONLY. EVERYONE ELSE IS IN WITH THE GAG, like how Slydini's Paper Balls work. | |
| nblan10 17th Dec 06 | well, im really short, everyone is taller than me, so this trick is impossible for me, but for others' great trick... | |
| adman24601 7th Jan 07 | good idea, you should do it fast though, and make sure that their attention is on the hand that supposedly has the coin. | |
| LJGym9 12th Jan 07 | haha it works once, not twice (i know i know, never perform a trick twice, but i was practicing on my 5 year old cousin lol) it is from a book though | |
| basblfan004 19th Jan 07 | it'a kinda one of those things that even if the spec finds out how you don't card cause it's funny | |
| Zytomius 25th Jan 07 | Works great if you have an afro....something i don't have | |
| magic1jack 8th Feb 07 | quite difficult to fool people with it - but gets a grat reaction who you do! Cool trick | |
| Hawk 14th Feb 07 | A bit like a Michael Ammar effect, that I read a few years back, pretty good if involved into a larger coin routine. | |
| aceofangels5 16th Feb 07 | Read this trick once, and it is really good because i'm kinda tall so I can pull it off. | |
| magicass 6th Mar 07 | wow! dude im going to fool my mom right now!! | |
| Meek 9th Mar 07 | Not a very good trick. first your spectator will see the coin is not in your hand the third time you bring it down, so you probably had to place it on your head or toss it. But when they see you tilt your head downward they will know that you had it on your head the whole time. | |
| PGVA 14th Mar 07 | i wouldnt recomenf doing this trick if you are bald. seriously. | |
| joshj13 15th Mar 07 | Good explanation, I learned the trick in a couple of days just by reading your awesome and detailed instructions. | |
| magicman63 21st Mar 07 | it worked over and overp.s.do not try it with tall people | |
| colinahale 24th Mar 07 | every one will know how this trick work it isnt that good but for kids maybe they will fall for it | |
| cheeze 28th Mar 07 | Help: if you are short like me try this on someone you know andmake sure that they are laying down sik or just woke up! but to make it not seem to oveous that u r putting it on your head scratch alotthen when it comes time to put it on your head scratch you head and then drop it on you head!(your girlfriend may dump you for scratching alot but the trick is worth it) | |
| obharucha 29th Mar 07 | i tried the trick.its wicked.i need practice dropping the coin from my head to the spectators hand.thanx cool trick!!! | |
| PicklePhantom 2nd Apr 07 | You would definately have to perform this to someone smaler than yourself, so I don't really liek this trick. A way to improve it would maybe be sleeving the coin for teh vanish then making it reappear somewhere bizarre. If you just pop it on your head, chances are that someone else in your audience wil notice you resting teh coin on it. I find this more of a joke than a amgic trick. | |
| mossimo 9th Apr 07 | Sounds hard dropping the coin into their hand also the spectators will watch the coin go up and down and when it doesn't come down the third time they will easily figure out where it is. However if you did th trick fast with very little explanation it would be hard for them to catch and as always never preform it twice in a row | |
| Rubix09 10th Apr 07 | Very clever; works great with kids. I try for them to keep an eye on their hand to try and say something like "Ok try to anticipate this one" and they usually look into their hand not yours. | |
| thegypsyguitar 17th Apr 07 | Better to perform on people sitting down though most times people will want to stand up if they are trying to grab something. Also dropping the coin from your head onto their hand can be tricky. I suggest finding someone and using them as practice before actually performing the trick for an audience. | |
| DocShock 28th Apr 07 | misdirection needs to be spot on for this to work, but once u get that, its a killer. i did it with my sister who is taller than me, but if you can keep their eyes focused on their hands and youre hands, it still works. great effect. | |
| magickuhn11 1st May 07 | Constructive critic here. Wouldn't it look kind of suspicious if you were bringing your hand all the way up to your head every time? Good trick otherwise. | |
| Chris291 5th May 07 | It is a great trick just i am very small! | |
| djsnickerman 9th May 07 | This trick is okay, but I KNOW it was in the book "Tricks With Your Head" by Mac King and Mark Levy first.....In the book they tell you to hold hands with the spectator and bow your heads, then pray for the money. When you bow your head forward the coin falls from your head into the spectator's outstretched palms. | |
| nyle 18th May 07 | This shouldn't be performed to adults unless theyre all drunk haha but certainly works well with children especially with a good patter. | |
| oddbit 30th May 07 | Nicky48: you still had a coin fall out of the sky Vietgurl: then THEY spoiled a good trick, oh well. Anbu: GOOD! BASBL: Good attitude, dude Meek: do it right they won't Bald? use sticky and they'll wonder how it stays there on ur head PP: pick ur spot Rubix: right! MK11: read other comments, talk about timing. | |
| jesse3 1st Jun 07 | this is a great trick once i tried it t osomeone taller then me and it worked | |
| Romnous 1st Jul 07 | it sounds very dumb when reading it, but it has a killer-effect. it's great to perform for kids! | |
| darthdanny 29th Jul 07 | If your shorter you might want to have them sit down and stand in front of them. Great trick! | |
| ajatkinson 3rd Aug 07 | my opinion is this...awesome trick...i mean c'mon guys...when you count dont have the coin showing, but act like its in your fist...put the coin on your head before u even say one...does that help??? | |
| foolking419 8th Aug 07 | little kids really like this trick, its funny the see the look on their faces when they realize (after about the fifth time) that is on your head the whole time, then you can teach it to them and watch them impress each other | |
| Superant1 11th Nov 07 | Love the advice at the end. Yeh anyway pretty clever wat i do is say just before i drop it to there hands. Look up at the sky! too late you missed it falling. | |
| a415201667 18th Jan 08 | Actually i invented it by myself a long time ago, but the one i invented is more simple than this, this one is better! | |
| dantetrickster 1st Feb 08 | its quite hard to stop it falling off my head, but its a great trick anyway! | |
| hocuspocus 4th Jul 08 | not the best trick out there by any standards, but pretty entertaining | |
| darkrunning 27th Jul 08 | its veary entertaining but you get noticed | |
| Aburrows 26th Oct 09 | A good gag, but not much of a trick, because I find the spectator automatically looks to your head. I find it easier to sleeve the coin (tie a legnth of string or a shoelace around your forearm to stop the coin falling out when you lower your arm,) then shake your sleeve to get the coin, and pretend to sneeze it out or something. | |
