Countdown Force and Revelations

This is a way to force a selected card on the spectator. Also, I added some of my favorite ways to reveal the forced card.

Preparation

Catch a glimpse of the top card and memorize it.

Method

Tell the spectator to pick any number between 1 and 15. Start dealing off that number of cards, showing them how.( *IMPORTANT* make sure you show them how to do it by instructing them or the force will not work) Then tell the spectator to do the same thing you just did. Let them deal off that number of cards and look at that number.

ex. Someone says they pick 10, the spectator would deal 9 cards and look at the 10th card, this would be the spec's card for the rest of the trick.

Since you already knew the top card, and showed them how to deal the cards off, you've reversed the cards making the top card the number they chose.

Revelations:

1. The old card flipping out of the deck revelation - Control the forced card to the top of the deck, talk to the spectator about some certain cards in the deck, being more off balanced than others. As you do this, push the top forced card over slightly; about half of the card should be hanging off the deck. Then quickly drop the deck. If done correctly, the top card will flip over due to air coming from under the deck, since the card was pushed over; it will flip on impact.

2. Slap - This has to be one of my favorite revelations, because some people just freak out when done correctly. Control the forced card to the bottom of the deck. Hold the cards at the end with your four fingers on top and thumb on bottom. Keep a medium grip on the deck, so it won't slip out of your hand. Instruct the spectator to slap the deck, if done correctly the bottom card will still be clenched in your hand, which is of course, their selected card. Alternatively let the spectator hold the cards and you slap them.

3. The suckers bet - This is my all time favorite revelation. After forcing the card, shuffle the deck. Start dealing cards onto the table, until you see the forced card (make sure to deal about 5 maybe 10 cards after their card. Then, ask the spectator if they want to make a bet. Say you will bet them 5 dollars that the next card you turn over will be their card. Looking through the cards, the spectator will realize you already dealt their card; so, of course, they will accept. Then, make a motion to deal a card from the deck, but then turn and flip the already dealt card FACE DOWN. This is more of a con than a magic trick, but you still win 5 bucks!

It's okay for a trick, but the force is too obvious for the spectators and they always want to shuffle after I show them. I've done the sucker bet before though, and that's always fun. But I never ask for the money after I win.

I've won about 3-4 cans of coke with that sucker ending. People don't seem to mind losing a little money if they are entertained

This is a quite good collection of reveals for an Access level 1 thing. I'm really going to use the sucker's bet, but the flip over thing is just too difficult to get 100% of the time.

Yeah, the flip over doesn't 100% of the time work. Thats why I had caution before adding it to the revelations list. But, I have done it sucess almost 90% of the time, but I did A LOT of practicing with the postion of the flipping card. I find to have the card, about 1/2 off the deck. That usually gets the card to flip. As with the slap, it isn't truely hard to do. I can say, I didn't do the BEST job trying to explain it; but I think I covered most of the main points :)

only one thing to say, the third part is only a good idea when stakes are low and you can run!

i have used this force before and it can be effective, but if the spectator is really paying attention, he will get that you just put what was the top card, in the 15th spot. This happened to me and it crushed my performance. If you are casual and your audience is not paying full attention to what is happening, it is a great force.

I was confused with the explanation of the force, but i have prevailed. A rewording might help like exactly how you would like the spectator to deal the cards one after another on top of each other then put the cards back in the deck. Took me awhile to see what you were talking about. Now i have a headache.

the flip over works well you can also do it with a break about half way in the deck but it takes practice lots of practice.it also helps if you hold the deck at a little angle 45 degrees. I found that a thumb break works best with that method.

nice trick, it was my very first trick from here; What I would do with the directions, I would explain (like on a side note) how to do an affective glimpse, discretely. Nonetheless, cool trick

Whenever you do the flip reveal and the card does'nt flip, thats okay. The card will at least come off the deck or at least sit a little bit offset to the rest of the pack. When that happens just say "did you see that?" Point at the card and say "That card seems to stand out from the rest, What do you think the chances are thats your card?". Turn over the card and say "It's not everyday that you see a card forced through the deck like that".

I love the slap. I use it lots of times and every time I do it I get a 'WOOOOOOOOOW... HOW DID YOU DO THAT???' response.
