A technique to cut the cards.
Swing Cut
Explanation Video
Pictures
1. Mechanics Grip
Method
Picture 1: Hold the deck in your left hand in the mechanic's grip.
Picture 2: Grip the deck in your right hand, using your index and middle finger for the upper right part of the deck, and rest your thumb naturally on the side closest to you.
Picture 3: Using your right index finger, lift about half of the deck up and 'swing' it as far as you can to the left.
Picture 4: Grab the top half of the deck with your left hand, gripping it in between your thumb and index finger. Then drop the half from your right hand onto the half in your left hand.

| foblozer93 17th Feb 07 | I happen to like the Swing Cut move.Great job with the pics.4/5 | |
| rulerof52 17th Feb 07 | I already use this cut in many of my routines. | |
| casper 17th Feb 07 | You can use it in many routines/tricks. If you get the spectator to place their card in the center of the deck (which is above the top card using this cut), you automatically know what card is below theirs. | |
| Gamerfreek11 17th Feb 07 | very cool, i wonder why no one has ever did this one before? O well, i do this so much, its common for me to just start doing it randomly! | |
| alskdjfhg 17th Feb 07 | haha. this is a cool cut that i've known for a while. | |
| Zboy 17th Feb 07 | Nice explanation very clear with the pics, although you don't necessarily need to pick up half the deck just pick up a pakcet of cards then swing cut then repeat :) | |
| bmx594 17th Feb 07 | Its pretty cool, i like it because itcan also be used like a flourish!!! | |
| Xxsolja89xX 17th Feb 07 | ahhh yet another XCM move gotta love flourishes... good explaination | |
| casper 17th Feb 07 | I might add a tutorial for the swivel cut to this, which is basically the same as this, just a little fancier. | |
| ahm1993 17th Feb 07 | nice pics. makes this trick seem clearer. well done. | |
| chaostryder 18th Feb 07 | ...we're allowed to add flourishes? | |
| xayarii 18th Feb 07 | Thanks for putting in pics. ^_^ | |
| kike288 18th Feb 07 | really simple and it looks kewl | |
| Hawk 18th Feb 07 | This is a nice visual cut, to be used with other cuts, looks great. | |
| magicalmaster 18th Feb 07 | I use this a lot. Its usually used in XCM though. But XCM makes tricks look better. Good job. | |
| checkmatei 18th Feb 07 | it is a very usefu cut, well done explaining how to do everything and for each step including a picture...5/5 | |
| glivesey 18th Feb 07 | Great trick and some good pics to explain it all | |
| jhonny2234 18th Feb 07 | this is an intersting cut. seems like it would be good for a misdirection. | |
| molten 18th Feb 07 | I didn't know you were allowed to submit unoriginal stuff. If everyone just submitted classic sleights, then they would all just get a high access level for little or no work. | |
| thestarfishkid 19th Feb 07 | If you grab the swung out pack using the left hand palm down with your thumb nearest your body you can complete the swing and then the packet is swung 360 degrees. | |
| iansal 19th Feb 07 | this is a great way of gettin yourself ready for a riffle force... | |
| aceofangels5 19th Feb 07 | I use this alot on my xcm moves. It really inhances a effect. | |
| spazz 19th Feb 07 | its good to sow off in a trick. you got to admitte its better than a normal cut :) | |
| Meek 19th Feb 07 | The pictures helped me understand the method better | |
| 363636 19th Feb 07 | i like the pics | |
| magicdude45 19th Feb 07 | Nice job with the picks!! | |
| Huggerz281995 19th Feb 07 | great job with the pics it is ok but how are they not going to see what you are doing i use it some times but i would not use it during my shows thanks great trick HarrisA | |
| casper 25th Feb 07 | Huggerz281995: well it's not supposed to be a secret cut, but if you do it fast enough they won't realize that they are placing a card on top of what was the top card of the deck. If they do realize, they probably wouldn't even care. If you use it all the time, even when it's not necessary, they probably will lose any suspicion of it. | |
| firzen 25th Feb 07 | I use this to shuffle. You cut the deck, SLIDE to the left hand, without releasing the other cards, cut again, slide, cut again, slide. done. | |
| htyhty 8th Mar 07 | ohh and another idea that you can used when using this cut is you can optain a pinky break what you are cutting them, this is a reason why this is such a wonderful cut. | |
| griffshcky15 14th Mar 07 | very useful i use it all the time in my routines | |
| Far 30th Apr 07 | pretty cool but i know how to do it with only one hand. | |
| ilikecheez 26th Jun 07 | This trick is very good for a trick where you make a card fly! | |
| Jollyrancher 4th Oct 09 | I usually use this to get a pinkie break by first cutting it this way once, placing the top in my other hand doing it again to the remaining stack, and then catching the break when you put it all back together. Then you can procede to cut the cards to where yourholdinthe break and the top card is retained. | |
