Three plastic eggs are shaken, and at will of the magician, each egg will either make a sound or not. Even after the eggs are mixed up, each one can still make a sound or not make a sound. (This trick is just like the 'Rattle Bars' trick, except there are eggs instead of bars.)
Echo Eggs
Preparation
Get three plastic easter eggs, with a hole at the bottom of each one. It is best if they are the same color, but it doesn't matter if they are not.
Then, get three buttons. They can be any size, as long as they fit inside the plastic eggs.
Finally, get some thread. It can be invisible thread, or normal thread. (Invisible thread is the best, because you do not have to hide the thread.) Tie a piece of thread to each button, not cutting the thread too long. Then, put each end of thread through the hole at the bottom of the eggs. Leave the thread hanging out, then close the eggs with the buttons in them.

Method
Start out by picking up a random plastic egg, hiding the thread. Hold onto the thread, but do not pull. Shake the egg to make a sound. Then put it down, and mix up the eggs, still hiding the thread sticking out.
Then, you can let them choose the egg they think does not make a sound. Each time they say an egg will make a sound, do the opposite of what they say. To get an egg to not make a sound, pull the thread in your hand, still hiding it. Shake the egg, to hear nothing. Continue to do this for a while, but end either each egg making a sound, or each egg ending silent.
Advice
This trick can seem easy, but really is not. You cannot let the spectator(s) see any thread throughout the trick. Work on hiding the thread, unless it is invisible thread. If it is invisible thread, then this trick is examinable, just don't let them touch the plastic eggs.

| Hiei3 2nd May 07 | Nice. 3/5. You could also put a button in all 3. At the end, show that all 3 had one. They'll never get how an egg with a button could remain silent. [Hiei3] | |
| blake4 2nd May 07 | totally genius.i got my girlfriend with this 1.thanx guys. | |
| trevalin 2nd May 07 | hiei, then they would want to inspect the buttons. i suppose you could tear the thread really quick after you finsih the trick. | |
| dannagain 2nd May 07 | there is a much simpler an easier version of this trick using matchboxes with one match box supposedly having matches inside which i don't think is on magic hat. it might be though | |
| Far 2nd May 07 | its an pretty good trick good job. | |
| ddustin 2nd May 07 | It is a little confusing but I guess I like it 3/5 | |
| PlasmaShadow 2nd May 07 | Hiei3, that is what I did say to do. You are supposed to put a button in each egg. ;) | |
| Yexo 2nd May 07 | 4/5 for originality, and for being easy to understand. I would give it a 5/5 but it's not like a, "Wow! that's amazing!" kind of trick. It's still really good. | |
| poise 2nd May 07 | Very nice trick although I have the rattle bars but if I didn't I would use this. | |
| Xxsolja89xX 2nd May 07 | i got a better idea why not use the raven on a powerful magnet in each of the eggs and it only rattles in one hand say right hand but wont rattle in the left hand.... sounds like fun to me!! | |
| Guayo 2nd May 07 | Its a really good trick and quite original. | |
| dasuprememep 3rd May 07 | people suspect that you tap the eggs, so keep your fingers away! | |
| PlasmaShadow 3rd May 07 | Xxsolja89xX, using the raven would also be a good idea, but this trick can be used with both hands, so less will be suspected from this trick. | |
| ftballtw 5th May 07 | I have a hard time with people wanting to handle the items (kids especially)Works in a stage preparation best. | |
| Captain 9th May 07 | "If it is invisible thread, then this trick is examinable, just don't let them touch the plastic eggs." So, then, what part of the trick is examinable? | |
| steven9 14th May 07 | very nice trick but its better with invisible threat bacause they always want to examinate your hands and the eggs | |
| oddbit 25th May 07 | I like the idea, but perhaps it could be made better with magnets. They make tiny, very strong magnets these days that could be placed into a ring or otherwise concealed on/in the hand. With a bit of steel inside the egg, say, a BB pellet, you could control the noise by whether the magnet is directly in touch with the egg or not. Depending on the strength of the magnet (I don't have one to test this alternative) you may need to be careful you do not make the eggs move at the wrong time as yo | |
| leonleon 27th May 07 | This trick is really good! If you want to find invisible string, then go to the magic shop.com. | |
| freshmaker123 29th Aug 07 | You could also take a match box and fill it with broken dry long spagehtti and rubber band that to one wrist and hide it under your sleeve. Then if you want the egg to make a noise just shake it with the rigged hand and if you dont want it to make noise then shake it with the other hand =] | |
| tescochris 7th Mar 08 | have small plastic box attached to wrist with rubber band and have a button only in said box so when you shake with that wrist itrattles shake with the other and it's silent | |
| bigwurm303 27th Mar 08 | Freshmaker and tescochris... you get a VERY different sound when an object hits a cardboard matchbox then when it hits plastic. I don't think that would work. | |
