A strip of paper with different pictures on one side is offered to be cut (face down - that is, the pictures hidden) at any point with a pair of scissors, or in fact anything that creates a straight cut in the paper. Even with this degree of fairness, the magician has still forced a particular image on that page.

The spectator is given an utterly free choice of where to cut on a strip of paper with a pair of scissors. When the strip is shown on the other side, it is shown that the strip has lots of apple pictures on the other side. The spectator has chosen to cut right through the middle of the only green apple in the sea of red apples.
