Cut and Restored Rope

Effect

The magician displays a 3-4ft piece of examinable soft rope. The rope is examined and returned. The magician then introduces a pair of scissors (also examinable) and cuts a piece of paper to ensure its 'realness'. He then states that every rope has two ends and a middle. Holding the two ends with one hand he points to the middle. The magician then takes the middle of the rope and holds it in the same hand as the two ends. The magician then takes the scissors and cuts the middle of the rope. He displays the two ropes and then ties a knot to hold them together. He gestures at the rope saying 'It is restored!'. The audience points out the knot and the magician implies that the knot does 'knot' exist. To further prove the theory that the knot does 'knot' exist he moves it from the center of the rope the the bottom. His final way to prove that it does 'knot' exist is to rap the rope around one hand and then throw the rope up. He is proved right, the knot is gone...
