A Colourful Surprise

Effect

The magician takes out a pack of cards and asks the spectator to select one, and memorize it. The spectator then places it back in the deck, and the magician shuffles it. The magician spreads the cards out face down to find one of the backs a different colour from all the rest. It is turned over, and is the spectator's card.

The magician gives the spectator the deck to examine, and make sure that there is no duplicate of their card. The spectator confirms that there is only one of the card they picked, and it is the different coloured backed card. The spectator then places the different coloured card back into the deck. The magician gives the deck a cut, and spreads out the cards. This time, all the cards are the same color. The different colored card (the spectator's card) is not in the deck.

The magician gives the spectator the deck to confirm that all the backs are all the same color. The magician then says, but where did your card go? The magician reaches into his pocket to find that there is the different colored card in it. He flips it over, to show that it is indeed the spectator's card. There are no duplicates needed.
