Magic Words

Effect

The spectator is handed a slip of paper that has four magic words on it. He is asked to memorize one of the words, and return the paper to the magician. The magician puts the slip into a wallet which he gives to the spectator to hold in his pocket. The magician fans the deck and allows the spectator to choose a card. The card is returned to the deck and shuffled in.

The spectator is asked to place a finger on the deck and think of their magic word. The magician turns over the top card and asks if it was the spectator's card, which it isn't. The same happens with the second and third card in the deck. Next, the magician becomes frustrated, gives the spectator the deck, and asks him to find his card.

The card is no longer in the deck. The magician asks what word was used. When he hears the word, the magician says, 'Oh no, that word makes the card go to your pocket!' The spectator looks in the wallet the magician gave him to find his card.
