Spectators Trick

Effect

The spectator picks a card. He then puts the deck behind his back. He reverses a card and shoves it into the middle of the deck. To his surprise, when he looks through the deck, the reversed card is right next to his card.

Method

Start off by telling the spectator that 'I am going to stray from the usual trick where the magician does all the work. In this trick you, the spectator will be performing a trick for me.'

First cut the deck in half. ask the spectator to choose a half. After he chooses a portion, tell him to look through, pick a card, and place it on top of his portion. While he is doing this turn your back. With your back turned, secretly reverse the bottom card of your portion, and the second card from the top.

When the spectator is ready turn around. Place your portion on top of his, making sure he doesn't notice the reversed bottom card. Give the spectator the pack. Tell him to put the pack behind his back. Next, tell the spectator to take the top card, but then quickly say, 'It would be too suspicious to use the top card, please put it on the bottom. The reversed card will now be the card on top.

Now tell the spectator to take the top card, and flip it over. They think they are reversing it. Tell them to shove it into the middle of the deck. Once done, bring the deck forward. Tell them to look through the deck face down. When they do, they will notice that there is a card reversed. When they look at the card next to it, it will be the card they previously chose.
