Eternal Life

Effect

The magician shows a clear plastic tube and three silks (a yellow, a blue, & a red). He then puts the three silks in the tube. Finally, pulling the silks out, discovers they are all connected together. This is a Gospel illusion!

Preparation

You will need to purchase a clear tube about 8 or 9 inches long, a yellow silk, a blue silk, a red silk, and a pack of small braiding type rubber bands. Take the clear tube and put three small rubber bands on one end of the tube. You should put three, in case one breaks). Braiding bands or bands for braces will work well. I put a piece of pretty gold tape on each end, so I could hide the bands better.

Method

Holding the tube at the end where the bands are, the magician shows the tube and silks to his audience. He says, 'You know life can be a pretty thing sometimes. The fun that comes with life makes life about the best thing in the world. Wouldn't you like to have eternal life and fun?'

'Let us let this tube represent ourselves and this blue handkerchief represent the life we have been given.' Insert blue silk into tube, leaving about an inch left hanging out.

'Well, the bible says '...it is appointed unto men once to die....' (King James Bible, Hebrews 9:27). But wouldn't you like to have a life forever? You see the bible also says that, 'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.' (King James Bible, John 3:16)

'See, Jesus gave his blood on the cross so you could have everlasting life in heaven with him. So we will let this red silk represent Jesus' blood, that he shed on the cross, that you receive when you ask him to save you.'

With the one inch of blue handkerchief hanging out, put an inch of the red silk in the tube and pull one band over it and the blue sticking out connecting those two. Stuff the silks into the tube, leaving an inch piece of the red hanging out.

'Now, when you receive Jesus' blood which he shed for you, you will be able to have eternal life on the streets of gold in heaven. So, we'll let this gold silk represent the streets of gold in heaven.'

With an inch of the red still hanging out, put an inch of the gold in the tube and pull the remaining bands over it and stuff all the silks into the tube.

'You see, Jesus died on the cross to shed his blood so you could be connected to the streets of gold in heaven by his blood.'

Pull or blow the silks out of the tube and they are connected.

This could be used as an Altar Call illusion.
