Effect

The magician gives a person a piece of paper, which you have folded into nine sections. He tells him to write a desired name in the center; then to write a name in each of the other portions. Then he asks him to tear the paper along the folds, so as to form nine seperate slips, which are dropped into a hat.

Everyone agrees that you have just one chance in nine of discovering the slip that bears the desired name. The magician reaches into the hat and finally removes that desired slip, the effect is very mysterious and surprising.
